Going green...

I was sitting out in the surf yesterday, marvelling at how beautiful the sunset looked when a pod of dolphins surfaced right beside me. It was a magical moment which I savoured, before it really hit me that if the world changes for the worse because of global warming then moments like these may be gone forever. How sad that humans may never experience the beauty of nature as it is and has been. Imagine a world ravaged by storms, where humans wage wars over resources like fresh water or arable soil. It's really the most pressing issue we face and we need solutions that empower all of us to make a difference. Offsetting is a tiny part of the solution. First and foremost, we need to look at reducing our consumption - not just of electricity but also of food, water and material objects. If we all slow down and take a "back to basics" approach we will make a huge difference. And it doesn't have to be at the expense of the economy. Society can be sustainable and economically healthy if we all just act a little more responsibly in our everyday lives.
